McNevan records it at Barry Haggarty's studio in Peterborough. The album includes 27 songs, one of which is rock, and the other half is hip-hop. Their first album, Shutterbug, was released by Trevor McNevan in 1995 as Oddball. McNevan (singer, songwriter and band founder) chooses the group name based on the belief that "God is a crutch (krutch) that we can rely on, even though our problems are a stack of a thousand feet high or that God is the crutch that fills the void of a thousand feet between his perfect holiness and our guilty nature. They see the Toronto area as their home when they are not touring. Drummer Steve Augustine is from Hamilton, Ontario. He later moved but kept in touch with him.

Joel Bruyere was a childhood friend of McNevan. Trevor McNevan trains the group in Peterborough, Ontario, a city northeast of Toronto where he attended high school. Trevor McNevan is the only founding member of the group that is still part of it. Singer Trevor McNevan and drummer Steve Augustine are also members of a project called FM Static, and Joel formed The Drawing Room in 2009. They currently have eight albums, as well as a live album, and three remix albums. Thousand Foot Krutch, also abbreviated TFK, is a Canadian Christian and Nude metal rock band from Peterborough, Ontario.
